BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB football team practiced for 15 periods here Thursday as it worked toward finalizing plans for Saturday's Conference USA game at Memphis.

The Blazers' two-hour practice was spent finalizing Saturday's game plan and head coach Neil Callaway called it a good workout. "I thought everybody was into it," said Callaway. "Now, we just need to get ready to go play."

The Blazers will face another challenge in going against a potent offense. This time, though, Memphis brings a passing game that has averaged 305 yards per game through the air.

"It will be a challenge to match up with their receivers, but it's not as if they can't run the ball. They certainly can run it, but I think their receivers are the best part of their offense. And their quarterback has been playing awfully well. We'll have our hands full."

Callaway also announced that senior David Sigler (offense), senior Zach Britten (defense) and senior Swayze Waters (special teams) would serve as captains for Saturday's contest.

UAB leads the series with Memphis, 7-2, having won the past seven meetings between the two teams.

Saturday's game will be televised regionally on CSS with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. CT.

Radio coverage of the game can be heard on the Blazers' ISP Sports Network flagship station WUHT 107.7 FM. The broadcast can also be heard on affiliates WIQR 1410 AM in Montgomery, WTRB 98.3 FM in Talladega and WACT 1420 AM in Tuscaloosa.
