BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB football team continued its short week of preparation with a one-hour practice Tuesday morning.

The Blazers host East Carolina Thursday at 7 p.m. CT in a nationally televised contest. The game will air on CBS College Sports with Jason Knapp and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila on the call.

With the game only two days away, UAB head coach Neil Callaway treated the Tuesday practice as a Thursday.

"Today was a Thursday practice for us, so we're trying to get well and be as fresh as we can," Callaway said. "Overall, today's practice was good. I think we're focused on East Carolina and it seems like it's coming together."

Because of the abbreviated week, UAB will return to the practice field Wednesday to squeeze in more reps and finalize the East Carolina gameplan.

The Blazers and Pirates will meet for the 10th time, with UAB seeking its first win over East Carolina since 2006. Last season, the Pirates claimed a 37-21 victory to take a 5-4 advantage in the series.

Senior RB Justin Brooks will serve as the offensive captain for Thursday's game, along with sophomore LB Marvin Burdette as the defensive captain and senior LB Caleb Dyck as the special teams captain.

Thursday's game will be carried live on the Blazer Sports Network, airing locally on 107.7 WUHT-FM. David Crane, John Whitcomb and Otis Leverette will call the action with the pregame show beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.
