Football Finalizes Marshall Game Plan

RB Darrin Reaves has rushed for 389 yards and five touchdowns over the past two weeks

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB football team worked out for nearly two hours on Thursday afternoon, putting in the final plans for Saturday’s showdown with Conference USA foe Marshall.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. CT at Legion Field.

The Blazers will look to continue with their rushing success, after racking up 207 yards on the ground last week in a 27-19 come-from-behind victory at Southern Miss.

Leading the rushing attack against the Golden Eagles was sophomore running back Darrin Reaves, who carried the ball 35 times for 223 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  Over the past two games, Reaves has totaled 389 yards and five scores.

“The philosophy of our offense is to run the ball,” head coach Garrick McGee said.  “Earlier in the season, we were disappointed because we couldn’t run the ball as much as we anticipated, and we resorted to having to pass the ball over and over for 300 yards a game to stay in games. The way you win games is by playing good defense and by running the ball.”

The contest will be aired on CSS and locally on the Blazer IMG Sports Network on WUHT-FM 107.7. The voice of the Blazers, David Crane, will call the game action with John Whitcomb providing analysis and Sam Miller reporting from the sidelines.
