BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team practiced for just under two hours on Wednesday in preparation for its Homecoming game against Middle Tennessee on Saturday. The Conference USA tilt between the Blazers and Blue Raiders is slated for a noon kickoff from Legion Field.
"They are a fast-breaking offense," head coach Garrick McGee said about Middle Tennessee. "They ran over 100 plays in their last game. We have to play good offensive football and maintain possession of the football. You have to score offensively to win in this conference."
Middle Tennessee comes into the contest at 4-4 overall and 2-2 in league play, with a 1-3 road record. The Blue Raiders rank ninth in the conference in total offense, averaging 370 yards per game, and are in the top three of rushing offense with an average of 180 yards per game. The Blue Raiders are coming off a dramatic, 51-49 win over Marshall a week ago, in which they scored on the game's last play to seal their second conference victory.
The contest with Middle Tennessee will be televised by Fox Sports Net, and can also be heard on the Blazer IMG Sports Network and on WUHT-FM 107.7 in Birmingham.
