BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon, working out for just short of two hours, in preparation of Saturday's 2013 Homecoming Game against Middle Tennessee.
The contest with the Blue Raiders will kick off at 12:05 p.m. at Legion Field and will be televised by Fox Sports Net. The game can also be heard on the Blazer IMG Sports Network and on WUHT-FM 107.7 in Birmingham.
The Blazers (2-5, 1-2 Conference USA) are coming off a 52-31 loss at UTSA last Saturday. But Saturday's contest against Middle Tennessee (4-4, 2-2 C-USA) gives UAB an opportunity to even its league record.
"You have to regroup and go back to the drawing board," offensive coordinator Richard Owens said after Tuesday's session. "You have to correct what didn't work and you have to build on a new gameplan and have to try to execute at the highest level."
Owens also commented on the level of comfort the Blazers' offensive players have with senior quarterback Jonathan Perry, who will make his first start of the season Saturday.
"He's been around these guys for awhile," Owens said. "I think the players will rally around him. Obviously, we're going to have to use two guys so I would imagine that Austin would come in, too, but we'll see how the flow of the game goes."
