BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB has added a game at Vanderbilt and a home contest against Northwestern (La.) State to its 2013 non-conference football schedule, Blazer athletics officials have announced.
The games against the Commodores and Demons complete UAB's non-conference schedule for the 2013 season.
In adding the games with Vanderbilt and Northwestern State to a slate that already had included road dates at LSU and Troy, the Blazers also announced that they will no longer have a home game against Mississippi State on their 2013 schedule.
Instead, UAB now has a one-game agreement with MSU, making a trip to Starkville, Miss. for a Sept. 6, 2014 game.
UAB will open the season at Troy on Aug. 31 and follow that with a game against LSU on Sept. 7 in Baton Rouge. The Blazers have not played LSU since defeating the Tigers at Tiger Stadium, 13-10, during the 2000 season.
UAB will play host to Northwestern State at Legion Field on Sept. 21 and then travel to Nashville, Tenn. to play Vanderbilt on Sept. 28.
The meeting with the FCS Demons will be the first between the schools while the Blazers and Commodores have played once previously. Vanderbilt defeated UAB, 31-15, during the 1996 season in the Blazers' first year playing at the NCAA Division I level.
