BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team practiced for just over an hour in shorts and shells on Thursday afternoon at the on-campus facility in preparation for Saturday's Conference USA road tilt at Houston.
UAB head coach Garrick McGee said his team has to be focused in order to pick up the team's first league victory of the year (1-4, 0-1 C-USA).
"Houston is a well-coached team and they do things right on the defensive side of the ball," McGee said. "They have very good technique and do things right. Playing on the road is just about concentrating and doing what you are coached to do."
UAB will be looking to avenge a 56-13 home defeat to Houston last season. The Blazers have split the eight games played against the Cougars (4-4), which includes a 1-2 mark in games played at Houston. The Cougars enter the matchup having won three consecutive games in the series.
UAB and Houston will kick off at 11 a.m. CT in Robertson Stadium, and will be televised on Fox Sports (SportSouth in the Southeast).
