BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team held its second practice of the week with a two-hour session at the campus practice fields as it continues to work towards Saturday's tilt at Houston. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT in Robertson Stadium, and will be televised on Fox Sports (SportsSouth in the Southeast).

Last season against Houston, the Blazers suffered a 56-13 loss at home to the Cougars. Houston ranks sixth in the nation this year with 344 passing yards per game, though UAB will counter with its 29th ranked passing defense which is allowing just 194 yards per outing.

"Our guys are young but they're excited about it," cornerbacks coach Anthony Blevins said. "They'd [cornerbacks] rather play a passing team rather than a team that runs the wishbone. It's a challenge for us to go down there. We know about the game last year and year's past so we're excited and looking forward to going down there and competing."

The Blazers will be looking for their first road victory of the 2012 campaign in Houston as the Green and Gold make the season's first road trip within conference play. UAB is 0-2 on the road in 2012, dropping games to then-No. 8 South Carolina and No. 16 Ohio State.

"Our challenge from week in to week out is to get a little bit better," Blevins said. "We're looking forward to just getting better this game compared to last game and the game before that.
