UAB and Mississippi State meet for the third time in four years this Saturday.
Oct. 4, 2007
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team practiced for 15 periods on Thursday, as the Blazers finished preparations for their game at Mississippi State.
The Blazers' final practice of the week, went longer than previous Thursday practices as head coach Neil Callaway and his team rehearsed and finished up their game plan for the third meeting between the two teams in four years.
"It was a good day today," Callaway said. "We just changed it today and spent more time on the field, rather than the meeting rooms. I thought it would be more beneficial to us and help us eliminate some of the mistakes that we have been making."
Callaway also said that even though more players have been sidelined by injuries this week, that it hadn't really effected how the Blazers' practice has been.
"I think we had a good Tuesday," Callaway said. "I thought it was the best Tuesday we've had. Wednesday wasn't what you wanted, but it was a normal Wednesday, and then I thought today was good."
Callaway also announced that senior Sam Hunt, sophomore Julian Smith, and junior Kevin Sanders will be the game captains on Saturday. UAB (1-3, 0-1 C-USA) and Mississippi State (3-2, 1-2 SEC) will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field in Starkville, Miss.
Radio coverage of the game can be heard on the Blazers' ISP Sports Network flagship station WUHT 107.7 FM. The broadcast can also be heard on affiliates WIQR 1410 AM in Montgomery, WTRB 98.3 FM in Talladega and WACT 1420 AM in Tuscaloosa.
