Defensive coordinator Reggie Johnson stressed the details on Wednesday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team practiced in shorts, pads and shells for roughly two hours at the on-campus practice facility Wednesday afternoon in preparation for the final nonconference opponent of the season as Southeastern Louisiana visits Birmingham on Oct. 6.
With the Blazers entering the weekend seeking their first victory of the year, the coaching staff is using this week to fine-tune the details on every play.
“It’s really about focus and details,” defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Reggie Johnson said. “Last week, we were awful on defense, played atrociously. As bad as we played, we still had a chance to win the game. And when you look at it, we just didn’t pay close enough attention to detail and we can’t let that happen.”
Despite the 0-4 start, Johnson believes the wins are out there. The team just needs to have better execution. The goal is still the conference championship.
“It’s about what we do, how hard we play, have minimal mistakes and tackle, and we’ll be fine,” Johnson said.
Saturday’s contest will mark UAB's Homecoming game this season, with kickoff against the Lions slated for 2 p.m. CT at Legion Field. For more information regarding the events surrounding UAB Homecoming Week, please CLICK HERE.
