BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team put in another day’s work on the practice field Wednesday afternoon as it prepares to host Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 2 p.m.
After Wednesday’s practice concluded, defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Reggie Johnson and linebacker D.J. White took time to meet with media members and talk about what to expect from Florida Atlantic’s offense.
“Their record is a little deceiving,” said Johnson. “They can move the ball well, they have athletic quarterbacks that have live arms and they run the ball well. We will have our hands full. We just need to go play our best game. We are more than capable, and we still have to put a full game together."
In last week’s game against Vanderbilt, White came down with his first interception of the year and returned it 17 yards against the Commodores. White feels that the defense has all the tools, but just needs to stay focused throughout the game.
“We need to work on being mentally focused,” added White. “We can’t make as many mistakes as we did last week. You get mentally and physically tired by the fourth quarter, but I think it is something we can overcome.”
