BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team held its final practice in Birmingham on Thursday before it travels up to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt. UAB will face the Commodores on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Earlier in the week, Blazers head coach Garrick McGee spoke about the challenges of facing Vanderbilt, the squad’s second SEC opponent in 2013.
“They are very talented,” said McGee. “Their head coach is the offensive play caller. He has always been a very good play caller. They have very good wide receivers and running backs.”
McGee praised his opponent, but he and the rest of the UAB football team are ready for the challenge and anticipate the trip Nashville.
“We are going to be up for the challenge,” commented McGee. “This is a big opportunity for our program, to go up there on television and get our record back to 2-2. We are looking forward to it.”
The game will be televised on FOX Sports Net (SportSouth in the southeast market).
