BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The UAB football team had a two-hour session at the campus practice field on Wednesday in preparation for its matchup against eighth-ranked South Carolina.

Saturday's tilt will kick off at 6 p.m. CT in Columbia, S.C., at Williams-Brice Stadium. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net with Bob Rathbun (pxp), Tim Couch (analyst) and Elizabeth Moreau (sidelines) on the call.

The Blazer squad is eager to return to the field after having a bye week this past Saturday.

According to defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Reggie Johnson, his unit has taken advantage of the extra prep time. The UAB defense will be faced with a talented South Carolina offense that features a number of veteran playmakers.

"South Carolina has a lot of playmakers," Johnson said. "It's a great challenge for us. We get an opportunity to see how good we can be, how good we are. We get another opportunity to compete; we have an opportunity to get better as a football team. Our focus is to go in and play as well as we can play. We're excited about the challenge and we'll see how well we do."

The contest will also air on radio locally on the Blazer IMG Sports Network on WUHT-FM 107.7. David Crane will call the action and John Whitcomb will provide analysis for the Blazers, while Sam Miller will be on the sidelines.
