BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The UAB football team wrapped its final practice of the bye week on Thursday, training for approximately an hour in shorts and shells on the UAB campus.
After the practice, UAB head coach Garrick McGeediscussed his thoughts on his team's improvement throughout the off week.
"We got a lot tougher this week," McGee said. "We worked extremely hard on our focus and concentration, understanding how when you get tired in a game you still have to think and function. We pretty much attacked the mental part of the game."
The squad started practice off working on special teams, including field goals and kickoffs, before splitting up into individual position groups.
"We have players who are committed and physically tough, who ran around and competed like they really cared about our program and the direction we are headed, and that is the positive," McGee said.
UAB will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 15, taking on South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
