BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team hit the practice fields on campus Friday morning for the final time this week as the Blazers move to Legion Field Saturday for a dress rehearsal in preparation for the season opener against Troy.

UAB went back to shells on Friday, and following the light scrimmage on Saturday, will have an off day Sunday before returning to the field Monday to begin normal game week activities.

"Today was a solid day," head coach Bill Clark said following Friday's two hour workout. "Tomorrow is going to be a dress rehearsal, nothing like the two other scrimmages. But, we still need to get our legs back and we had a lot of teaching today."

Clark noted that although it was a normal practice Friday morning, the attention was focused heavily on Troy and the game plan for the opener Aug. 30 at Legion Field.

"It's kind of a split practice," Clark said. "We'll do a lot of Troy stuff and then we'll go against each other. Today was a lot of preparation for Troy. We still have to keep getting better everyday and we'll keep trying to go good on good as much as we can everyday."

The Blazers kick off the 2014 season against Troy on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Legion Field. Game time is set for 11 a.m. CT. Ticket information for the squad's six home contests can be found at or by calling the UAB ticket office at 205-975-8221.
