BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team had a break with some cooler than normal temperatures on Wednesday morning for its first of two practices on the day. The Blazers worked out on the practice fields for over two hours.
Head coach Bill Clark was relieved to have an opportunity to practice in lower temperatures after the team’s first scrimmage of fall camp on Tuesday.
“It was a beautiful day today,” head coach Bill Clark said. “We had great weather. (It was) really good coming after that really hot day on the turf yesterday so it was really nice.”
Following the first scrimmage yesterday, Clark expected that there would be some minor injuries from full contact sessions. Wednesday will be another two-practice day and taking care of the players will be a high priority.
“I think we had nicks and bruises after yesterday,” remarked Clark. “I think you get that any time you really compete and actually tackle. There is nothing that I would say is of real consequence as far as any injuries. We have some guys limping around out here and we have to be careful with them at tonight’s practice. I think that is what you have to do at camp is just be smart with them. It is a constant communication between our strength staff and training staff.”
UAB kicks off the 2014 season against Troy on Aug. 30 at home. Game time is set for 11 a.m. CT at Legion Field. Ticket information for UAB's six home games can be found at www.UABsports.com or by calling the UAB ticket office at 205-975-8221.
