BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Under the hot sun and with temperatures rising over 90 degrees, the UAB football team completed its second day of Fall Camp practicing over two-hours at the UAB Practice Field on Tuesday.
Through two workouts, UAB head football coach Bill Clark is already seeing his team make improvements.
"I think we took a big step today," head coach Bill Clark said. "I think that was the thing we talked about constantly -- it's all the things that it takes to practice the way we do. It is nutrients, it is Gatorade, and hydration and rest. I think they did a good job with that. We have a long way to go but we did take some steps."
One of the steps Clark and his staff will have to take before the season starts is organizing a depth chart -- something Clark says is still a work in progress.
"We really do not have a ton of starters right now," Clark said. "I would say everyone on our team is battling it out at each position. We have some starters that have been here a few years that have a leg up, but I really think it won't be until the first scrimmage that we really get to see where our depth chart is."
UAB will return for day three of camp on Wednesday morning. The Blazers will open the 2014 season on August 30 at 11 a.m. against in-state rival Troy at Legion Field and the game will be broadcast on Fox College Sports.
