April 30, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Julius Wilson, who started at offensive tackle for UAB the past three seasons, has signed a free agent contract with the National Football League's Miami Dolphins.

Wilson, a native of Bradenton, Fla., will report for a Dolphins' rookie camp later this week.

"I'm very happy to have this opportunity with the Dolphins," said the 6-5, 315-pound Wilson. "I just wanted a chance to prove myself and now I have that opportunity."

Wilson was a two-time All-Conference USA selection for the Blazers, earning second-team status in 2006 following third-team honors as a junior a season earlier.
