BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB football team went through its third day of spring drills, and first day in pads, Saturday as the Blazers completed a two-hour morning workout on the campus practice fields.

Head coach Garrick McGeesaid he senses a different feel in the early going of drills. "I like our team," he said. "There's a different spirit throughout our team. I'm really impressed with our coaching staff. We've developed a chemistry with our coaches that I think will carry over to our kids. It's just a different vibe."

McGee also liked what he saw from the Blazers in their first day of pads.

"Our team's a physical team," he said. "These kids in this part of the country, they enjoy football, they're tough kids, they enjoy contact. When you put the pads on, you're striking another player. I think these kids in this part of the country enjoy hitting. There's a lot of good things happening out there."

The Blazers will return to the practice field on Wednesday for their fourth workout of the spring.
