IRVING, Texas ----- Conference USA announced Wednesday the football division alignment for the 2013 season as well as the home and away games for each league school for the upcoming campaign.
UAB will be joined in Conference USA's East Division by East Carolina, FAU, FIU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss. The West Division will consist of Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, UTEP and UTSA.
Schools will play eight conference games. A single round-robin slate will be played within divisions with two cross division opponents. The conference schedule is based on two seven team divisions, with institutions playing all (6) teams within the division and two of the teams in the other division, in a one-year rotation.
UAB, which will be in its second year under head coach Garrick McGee, will play C-USA home games against FAU, Middle Tennessee, Rice and Southern Miss. The Blazers will travel for league contests against East Carolina, FIU, Marshall and UTSA.
The meetings with FIU and UTSA will be the first for UAB. The Blazers have played Middle Tennessee on three occasions (1995, 1998 and 2000) and have won two of the three previous matchups.
UAB's 2013 non-conference schedule includes road games at Troy, LSU and Vanderbilt. The Blazers will also play host to Northwestern State.
