Made the move from quarterback to tight end in 2001, but will move back to quarterback in 2002 ... enter fall practice at No.3 on the depth chart at quarterback.

2001: Saw action in all 11 games, starting four. Primarily used as a blocking tight end ... caught a pass for a 10-yard gain against Army ... saw action on the special teams unit and made two solo tackles for the season ... completed an 11-yard pass to Thomas Cox that helped setup a UAB touchdown in the BlazersÕ 17-14 victory at Memphis Oct. 27.

2000: Returned to the team during spring practice after a two-year mission for the Mormon Church ... moved from quarterback to tight end during 2000 fall practice ... had a very strong 2001 spring practice and enters two-a-days as the projected starter at tight end.

1999: Redshirted as a true freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned All-State (1995), All-Region (1996) and All-County (1995-96) honors as a quarterback for Coach Rusty Burroughs at Jacksonville High School ... passed for 4,990 yards 46 touchdowns in three varsity seasons ... passed for 315 yards in a single game as a junior ... also lettered in baseball and basketball ... graduated with honors ... participated in Boys State (1996) and was named Academic All-State in both football and baseball (1996) ... was also an Eagle Scout.

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 11, 1978 in Bethesda, Md. ... son of Duane and Lori Tippetts ... a psychology major ... named to C-USA CommissionerÕs Honor Roll for the 1999-2000, 2000-01 and 2001-02 school years ... earned Presidential Honors for the spring 2000 quarter ... also named to the DeanÕs List three times and the UAB Athletic DirectorÕs Academic Honor Roll six times during his career.
