Ron Sigler, a former UAB football letterman who spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech, was named wide receivers coach for the Blazers in January, 2012.
Sigler, a native of Mobile, Ala. and a graduate of UAB, has been on the staff of former Blazer head coach Watson Brown at Tennessee Tech since 2010. He also played tight end during his collegiate career for Brown at UAB and was a two-year letterman for the Blazers.
Sigler also has extensive coaching experience at the high school level, having coached 11 years as the offensive coordinator at Midfield High School in metro-Birmingham. He helped the team to eight area championships and berths in the AHSAA state playoffs in nine of 11 years.
Sigler was a standout athlete at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, competing in football, basketball and track & field.
He earned his degree in psychology from UAB in 1997. Ron and his wife, Mary, have been married 12 years. They have one daughter, Yari, 8, and one son, Riley, 5.
