Regarded among the top defenders in Conference USA and the country after two outstanding seasons at UAB ... a two-time, first-team all-league selection, McSwain is the C-USA preseason Defensive Player-of-the-Year, according to a summer vote of the league coaches ... has also been tabbed to preseason "Watch Lists" for the Nagurski Award, the Lott Award, Lombardi Award and the Ted Hendricks Award ... in 2004, he was only sophomore to earn first-team honors on the all-conference offense or defense.

2005: Started 10 games ... enjoyed another outstanding season despite getting much more attention from opposing team offenses ... finished fourth on the team in tackles with 53, including 29 stops ... had five tackles for loss (-30 yards) and four sacks (-26 yards) ... returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown in Blazers' road victory at Troy ... enjoyed perhaps his best game of the season in victory at UTEP Nov. 19 as he registered a season-high 11 tackles with a pair of tackles for loss (-15 yards) and two sacks (-14 yards) ... recorded eight tackles against both Jacksonville State and Marshall ... was tabbed to preseason "Watch List" for Lombardi and Nagurski Awards.

2004: Vaulted himself into national prominence in his first season in I-A football after transferring from Jackson State University as he recorded 13 sacks during the regular season, which ranked fourth in the nation and was tops in Conference USA ... named a first-team All-C-USA selection ... finished one sack shy of single-season school record held by Bryan Thomas ... fourth on the squad with 56 total tackles, which included 29 solo tackles ... leads the team and conference with 18 tackles for a loss ... his combined sacks and tackles for loss resulted in 158 yards lost for the opposition ... forced two fumbles and recorded one quarterback hurry ... had three games last season with at least four tackles.

JACKSON STATE: Spent two seasons at Mississippi Division I-AA school but only saw action in 2002 as a freshman ... played in 10 games in `02, recording 29 tackles (17 solos, 12 assists) ... also registered four tackles for loss (for -31 yards) ... had two sack (-20 yards) and four QB hurries ... also recovered one fumble and blocked one punt ... recorded a season-high six tackles vs. Grambling State ... had five stops against Prairie View A&M.
