Strength and Conditioning

Steve Martin, who has gained nearly 20 years experience in the area of strength and conditioning training, was named strength and conditioning coach for UAB football in January, 2007.

Martin's vast amount of experience covers time spent at three Division I universities and will doubtless be an asset for the Blazers. A former player at Alabama himself, he has served as a strength coach at his alma mater, as well as at TCU.

Martin also spent time as a graduate assistant coach at Auburn in 1990-91. It was during that time that he worked with coach Neil Callaway as members of the Tigers' staff under head coach Pat Dye.

Martin was a graduate assistant at TCU in 1992 before being named head strength and conditioning coach in 1993. He served in that capacity until 1997.

A native of Blountsville, Ala., Martin returned to Alabama in 1997. Martin earned his bachelor's degree from Alabama in 1988.

He and his wife, the former Corinne Sanders of Dallas, Texas, have two daughters, Janie (12) and Claire (9).
