After transferring to UAB from Fort Scott CC, Koechner now looks to his second season with the Blazers ... expected to compete for starting position at guard when fall camp begins.

2008: Played in 10 games during season and started the final three contests (Tulane, East Carolina and UCF) at right guard when the Blazers won two of their last three games.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Attended Fort Scott Community College ... named second-team All-Kansas Jayhawk League after leading his team to a 9-3 record and appearance in the Valley of the Sun Bowl ... was an Academic All-American ... blocked for All-American running back Rodney Lovett who rushed for 1,300 yards and All-American and Jayhawk Conference Player of the Year quarterback Greg Cross ... helped anchor an offensive line that helped average 24.3 points per game last season ... his offensive line allowed 18.5 sacks for an offense that averaged 191.7 passing yards per game.
