A four-year starter and one of the top-rated defensive linemen in the nation, Freeman is projected as a potential first-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft...one of the anchors of UAB's "Steel Shield" defensive front, Freeman is a terrific pass-rusher and a very gifted athlete who bench presses over 400 pounds...played every position on the defensive line during his UAB career

2001: Had 55 tackles (32 solo), 10 tackles for loss and three sacks in 11 games, despite being double-teamed on most plays...he also had three pass deflections - two of which came in the win at Memphis on Oct. 27 - and forced one fumble in 2001...38 of his tackles (five for loss), all three of his pass breakups and the forced fumble (vs. TCU, Nov. 10) came vs. C-USA opponents...did not participate in contact during 2001 spring practice after undergoing offseason toe surgery.

2000: Started all 11 games, making 34 total tackles (17 solos, 17 assists), with 10 tackles for loss and five and one-half sacks...also had five pass deflections, 10 quarterback "hurries," two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries...moved from nose guard from defensive tackle during 2000 spring practice.

1999: Started all 11 games, 54 total tackles (38 unassisted, 16 assists), with five tackles for loss and two sacks.

1998: Started seven games and saw action in all 11 contests...made collegiate debut in season opener at No. 3 Nebraska (Sep. 5)...made first collegiate start vs. Tennessee Tech (Sep. 19) ...had season-high seven tackles at Northeast Louisiana (Oct. 31) ... had six stops vs. Middle Tennessee State (Nov. 14) and Kansas (Sep. 26). 1997: Sat out season as a redshirt...moved from tight end to defensive end during spring practice.

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year starter and letterwinner for Coach Bill Duke at B.C. Rain High School...Best of the Rest selection by Forrest Davis' Football Recruiting Annual ...Mobile Press-Register Super 22 as a senior...played tight end and defensive end...caught 21 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns as a senior...had 29 tackles on defense...had 26 receptions for 312 yards and two touchdowns as a junior.
