BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's basketball team will start the new year by hosting Georgia Southern on Wednesday at 7 p.m. CT inside Bartow Arena.

The contest is the nightcap of a doubleheader at Bartow Arena, as the UAB women's basketball team faces Chattanooga at Noon CT on Wednesday.

The Series
UAB leads, 5-1

The Blazers won the first five meetings against Georgia Southern, before falling in the most recent match up, 59-57, on Nov. 17, 2007 in Daytona Beach, Fla., as part of the Glenn Wilkes Classic.

Wednesday's game marks the fifth time UAB has hosted GSU, with the Blazers winning the previous four games in Bartow Arena.

Swing Nearly Twirls Triple Double
In the win against Northeastern, Jordan Swing nearly posted the first triple-double since 2009.  Swing finished the night 15 points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven assists.  The last Blazer to post a triple-double was Paul Delaney III against Tulane on Feb. 4, 2009.

Three Blazers On Fire From Foul Line
A trio of UAB players rank in the top-10 in Conference USA in foul shooting percentage.  Preston Purifoy tops the league making 93.9 %, followed by Jordan Swing (5th/85.4%) and Fahro Alihodzic (7th/83.3%).

TJ Nearing 1,000 Career Points
Senior Terence Jones is just 4 points shy of reaching 1,000 career points in his collegiate career. Jones, who is in his first year with the Blazers, competed the last three years for Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, where he scored 874 total points, averaging 9.4 points per contest.  Through 13 games this season, Jones has totaled 122 points.

Better At Bartow
UAB is a perfect 6-0 at home this season, compared to 1-6 away from the friendly confines of Bartow Arena.  Below are some comparisons between home and away/neutral site games for the Blazers this season.

>> UAB has won nine consecutive home contests dating back to last season.  The last time UAB lost in Bartow Arena was on Jan. 28, 2012 vs. East Carolina, 73-66.

>> At home, UAB is averaging 85.7 ppg, shooting 47.9 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from 3-point range and 80.6 percent from the foul line.
