BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Winners of four-straight games, the UAB men's basketball team returns to Bartow Arena Wednesday to host Chattanooga at 7 p.m. CST.
The battle between the Blazers (8-2) and Mocs (4-7) will air locally on the Blazer IMG Sports Network. Fans can listen to the contest on WUHT 107.7 FM.
Five Things To Know
• UAB holds a 9-2 advantage in the all-time series against Chattanooga and has won the last three meetings. The two teams have not met since 2002.
• The Blazers have won four-straight games -- their longest winning streak since winning four-straight from Feb. 16-March 2 last season.
• UAB averages 48.4 rebounds per game -- the top mark in NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
• UAB has the top perimeter defense in C-USA, holding opponents to just 56-of-219 (25.6 percent) from behind the arc.

UAB Leads Nation In Rebounding
» According to ESPN.com’s statistical rankings, UAB is the No. 1 rebounding team in the nation, averaging 48.4 boards per game. The Blazers have recorded over 50 rebounds four times this season (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy, 62 vs. New Mexico and 52 vs. North Carolina). The 62 against New Mexico represents the fifth time in school history that UAB has had 60-plus rebounds. The school record is 69, which came against South Alabama on Dec. 20, 1994.
» The Blazers have doubled up two opponents this season on the boards. UAB doubled Rutgers’ rebound total of 27 as the Blazers had just as many offensive boards (22) as the Scarlet Knights had defensively. Against Troy, UAB outrebounded the Trojans, 53-24, including a 39-16 advantage on the defensive glass.
Blazers Riding Four-Game Winning Streak
» UAB is currently on a four-game winning streak dating back to Nov. 27. It is the Blazers’ longest winning streak since winning four-straight from Feb. 16-March 2 last season. The Blazers are looking for their fifth-straight win of the season on Wednesday against the Mocs. UAB has not won five-straight games since the 2009-10 season when the Blazers won seven in a row from Jan. 2-Jan.26.
UAB’s 28-0 Run Lifts Blazers Past Georgia Southern
» In its last game against Georgia Southern on Sunday, UAB used a 28-0 run to seize control of the game. The Eagles actually led for most of the first half but were held scoreless for over nine minutes as UAB raced ahead.
Frazier Among Junior College Transfer Scoring Leaders
» Chad Frazier, who has scored in double figures in each of UAB’s 10 games this season, ranks No. 2 in the country in scoring among junior college transfers who are in their first year with their respective schools. Frazier is averaging 19.2 points per game, which is just behind the 19.5 from Southeast Missouri’s Jarekious Bradley for most in the nation.
Washington, Frazier Making Early Impact
» Blazer point guard Chad Frazier and junior forward C.J. Washington have led UAB in scoring in each of the first 10 games this season. On average, the two combine for 33 of UAB’s 78.9 points per game, which is 43 percent of the Blazers’ per game scoring average.
Rideau Scores As A Blazer
» UAB junior Thaddeus Rideau sank a 3-point field goal in the second half against Georgia Southern on Sunday, the first points of his Blazer career. Rideau finished the night with eight points.
Williams In New Role
» UAB redshirt senior guard Rob Williams, who started 31 games last season, has come off the bench to score in double figures in six of UAB’s 10 games this season. The energetic guard who has now played in 102 consecutive games in his career, also averages 6.3 rebounds per game.
Bartow Friendly To The Blazers
» UAB is currently 6-0 at home on the year. The Blazers play a school-record 17 games inside Bartow Arena this season. Under head coach Jerod Haase, the Blazers are 17-4 at home dating back to last season.
» Chattanooga comes into Wednesday’s game with a 4-7 overall record. The Mocs fell to Northern Kentucky, 87-71, on Sunday after defeating Hiwassee, 86-68, last week. The Mocs, who average 81.4 points per game, have four players averaging in double figures, led by Z. Mason’s 18.6 points per game.
