BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior guard/forward Jordan Swing of the UAB men’s basketball team is the UAB Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. The UAB Student-Athlete of the Week recognizes Blazer student-athletes who standout on and off their respective fields of play.
Swing and the UAB men’s basketball team knocked off then-No. 16 North Carolina on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Bartow Arena. The win was the Blazers’ first victory over a ranked opponent since 2009.
The Birmingham, Alabama native scored a season-high 14 points and grabbed five rebounds in the Blazers’ most recent game, a 74-69 win at Northeastern.
Off the court, Swing excels in the classroom, as well. Carrying a cumulative 3.22 GPA, he graduated this past May with a degree in communications management and is now pursuing a second undergraduate degree in health education. In addition, he was named to the 2012 Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
The UAB men’s basketball team returns to action this Sunday, as they host Georgia Southern at Bartow Arena. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m.
