BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- UAB junior point guard Chad Frazier has been named the Conference USA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week, the league office announced on Monday.
Frazier becomes the first player in UAB history to win back-to-back C-USA Player of the Week honors. UAB, which has now garnered the award three times this season, has never had more than four weekly C-USA Player of the Week honors in a single season.
Frazier, a native of Charlotte, N.C., scored a game-high 25 points in the Blazers' 63-59 upset win against No. 16 North Carolina on Sunday. Frazier jumpstarted UAB's surge in the first half with 18 points in the first 20 minutes to help the Blazers to a 37-25 halftime lead against the Tar Heels.
With his 17 points last Wednesday against Florida A&M and his 25 vs. UNC, Frazier has now scored in double figures in each of UAB's eight games this season and leads the team in scoring with 19.3 points per game.
Frazier and the Blazers now have a brief break this week before hitting the road to face Northeastern in Boston, Mass., on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. CST/7 p.m. EST.
