BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB men's basketball team opens the 2013 Charleston Classic on Thursday when the Blazers face No. 19 New Mexico at the TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.

Five Things To Know
• UAB and New Mexico will be meeting for the first time.

• No. 19 New Mexico is the first ranked opponent UAB has faced this season. The last time UAB defeated a ranked opponent on a neutral floor was March 21, 2004, when UAB defeated No. 1 Kentucky, 76-75, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

• C-USA Co-Player of the Week and UAB forward C.J. Washington has led UAB in scoring in the first three games. In fact, he has held the game-high point total in all three contests.

• UAB holds a +20.7 rebounding margin over its first three opponents. The Blazers have recorded two-straight 50-plus rebounding efforts (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy).

With a win Thursday, UAB would have 700 all-time victories in just its 36th season of basketball.
