UAB will be playing its second game on its new floor on Monday.

UAB Notes
UAB Pays Tribute To Gene Bartow
UAB hosts its annual Bartow Classic on Monday in honor of legendary head coach Gene Bartow. Bartow, who passed away from stomach cancer in January, 2012, was the founding father of UAB athletics and spent 18 seasons as the Blazers' head coach.

» Bartow compiled a record of 366-203 (.643) during his tenure. He led the Blazers to the NIT in the program's second year of existence and followed that up with seven-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including trips to the Sweet 16 in 1981 and the Elite Eight in 1982. In all, he led UAB to 14 postseason appearances, nine of which were NCAA Tournaments.

» In honor of coach Bartow, $2 of every single-game ticket sold at Monday's game will go to the Gene Bartow Fund for Cancer Research.

Washington, Frazier Quite The Pair
UAB newcomers C.J. Washington and Chad Frazier were impressive in their Blazer debuts against Columbus State. Washington led all scorers with 17 points, while Frazier boasted a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists.

» Frazier's 10 assists were the most by a Blazer since 14 helpers by former UAB star Aaron Johnson against Southern Miss in 2011.

Swing Yet To Miss
Blazers' senior guard/forward Jordan Swing was a perfect 4-for-4 (all 3-pointers) from the field in UAB's first game against Columbus State. Swing has now made three or more 3-pointers in 12 out of the 34 games he has played at UAB.

All Blazers See Action Against Columbus State
Each of the 12 eligible players on UAB's roster saw action in the season opener against Columbus State. Nine of the 12 players scored points, while four (C.J. Washington, Rod Rucker, Chad Frazier and Jordan Swing) scored in double figures.

UAB Starts Strong Against Cougars
UAB shot 58.1 percent as a team in the first half last Friday against Columbus State. The Blazers have shot 50 percent or better in a half in three out of the last four games dating back to last season.

UAB Starting Five Shines
UAB's starting five put up strong numbers against Columbus State. C.J. Washington, Rod Rucker, Fahro Alihodzic, Chad Frazier and Jordan Swing went a combined 24-of-38 (63.2 percent) shooting from the field against the Cougars as four of the starters scored in double figures.

Scouting Rutgers
» In Rutgers season opener this past Friday night at the RAC, redshirt junior forward Kadeem Jack shot 12-of-18 to score a career-high 30 points, while also grabbing 12 rebounds, to lead Rutgers to a 92-84 win over Florida A&M. Senior forward J.J. Moore also added a double-double, making 5-of-9 field goals en route to 17 points, while totaling 11 rebounds. Mack contributed 19 points and six steals. RU established a 50-37 rebounding advantage and forced 20 Florida A&M turnovers.

» It marked the first game at the helm for Eddie Jordan, who led the Scarlet Knights to their most points scored in a regulation season opener since a 114-86 victory over Bentley in 1976-77, which was Jordan's senior season. The 92 points were also the most for an RU men's hoops head coach in their debut. The previous high was 82 under Bob Wenzel in 1988-89, when Jordan was an assistant on staff.
