BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Former UAB men's basketball standout Donell Taylor was selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Erie Bayhawks in the 2009 NBDL Draft on Thursday night.

During his time with the Blazers, Taylor helped lead the Blazers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005. As a senior at UAB, Taylor averaged a team-leading 15.5 points a game on his way to earning second team all-conference and all-district honors.

He signed with the Washington Wizards as an undrafted free agent in 2005. The Montgomery, Ala. spent two seasons (2005-07) in the nation's capital and played in 98 contests for the Wizards.

Following the 2007 NBA season, Taylor signed to continue his career in Greece where he averaged 12.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game during his two years overseas.

Taylor joins former UAB great Squeaky Johnson (Austin Torros) as the former Blazers who are currently playing in the NBDL.
