BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men's basketball team invites fans to an open intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bartow Arena.

Fans will be able to get their first glimpse of the 2013-14 Blazers -- a group that features six newcomers and five returning players.

The UAB coaches will split the squad up into a Green team and a White team and will scrimmage for approximately two hours. This scrimmage will mark the first time the 2013-14 Blazers will play in front of spectators.

"We are excited about this year's team and want to give fans an opportunity to come out and watch us play," head coach Jerod Haase said. "This is a great chance for fans to see our newcomers as well as the group of returners who have worked hard all offseason."

UAB enters the 2013-14 season with its top four leading scorers returning. The Blazers also welcome newcomers Denzell Watts (Flint, Mich.), Thaddeus Rideau (Port Arthur, Texas), Chad Frazier (Charlotte, N.C.), Tosin Mehinti (Lithonia, Ga.), Tyler Madison (Columbiana, Ala.) and C.J. Washington (Augusta, Ga.) to the 2013-14 roster.

The Blazers open the new season with an exhibition game against Milligan (Tenn.) College on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. CT.
