UAB head coach Jerod Haase will take part in the coaches clinic on Sept. 20-22

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Hall of Fame coaches Roy Williams and Bob Knight headline a prestigious group of coaches who will be part of the Nike Basketball Clinic that will be held at UAB's Bartow Arena on Sept. 20-22.
The Birmingham clinic is the first of four Nike Championship Clinics to be held this fall. In addition to Knight, Williams and Blazers' head coach Jerod Haase, guest speakers at the Birmingham session include VCU's Shaka Smart, North Carolina Hall of Fame women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell, Murray State head coach Steve Prohm, Tulane head coach Ed Conroy, former NBA and NCAA head coach Tony Barone, Hillcrest (Ala.) High School coach Scott Suttles and Director of Nike Basketball Clinics Ed Janka.
"We would like to thank the Nike Championship Basketball Clinics for allowing us to host such a great event at UAB," Haase said. "This will be a huge weekend for the city of Birmingham and the surrounding area, and we are excited to be a part of it. To have several Hall of Fame and elite coaches to all be at Bartow Arena for one weekend will certainly be a memorable experience for coaches all across this area."
This year's clinic, which is labeled, "On The Court With Players," is available to all coaches. Pre-Registration is available at a cost of $130 per coach, while registration at the door is $150 per coach. To register for the event click here.
The clinic begins with registration on Friday, Sept. 20 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Smart will then lead off the event with a lecture on "Attacking Zone Defenses," followed by Williams' speech on "Our Running Game and Secondary Break."
Haase and Knight will highlight the Saturday session as the UAB coach gives instruction on "Individual Off-Season Workout," and Knight will do a two-part series on "Teaching Players How To Play."
On Sunday, Prohm and Hatcher will wrap up the event with sessions on "Man-to-Man Defensive Philosophy" and "Up-Tempo Attacking Offense."
Following the clinic in Birmingham, there will be clinics in Omaha, Neb., on Sept. 27-29, in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 4-6 and in St. Louis, Mo., on Oct. 11-13.
