BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- A trio of former UAB men's basketball players -- Elijah Millsap, Cameron Moore and Jamarr Sanders -- are competing in the NBA Summer League, set to begin this week. Millsap and Sanders were selected to the D-League Select Team while Moore will take the court for the newly named New Orleans Pelicans summer squad.
The 2013 NBA Summer League consists of 21 NBA teams and the NBA D-League Select team, which showcases rookies, second-year players and select free agents. The league starts Friday, July 12th, with each team slated to play three games before competing in the league tournament. All teams are guaranteed five games while in Las Vegas.
Millsap and Sanders will join 10 other NBA D-League top prospects to compete against the 21 NBA summer league squads. The duo will play for head coach Alex Jensen, who was named the 2013 NBA D-League Coach of the Year by leading the Canton Charge to an East Division Championship.
Moore, who played in Ukraine the past season for Ferro-ZNTU, will play for the New Orleans Pelicans. He will be joined by notables Darius Miller (Kentucky), Austin Rivers (Duke) and Tamir Jackson (Rice) for the summer league.
NBA TV will offer live coverage of 38 NBA Summer League games, while fans can watch all of the action live from Las Vegas via NBA Summer League Live on NBA.com and NBA Mobile. NBA Summer League Live is a subscription service offering fans a full slate of live and archived games for $14.99, available on NBA.com, the App Store and Google Play. All of the NBA D-League Select team's games will be shown live on NBA Summer League Live.

Moore competed in 53 games for Ferro-ZNTU, averaging 13.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He helped lead his squad to a second place finish in the Superleague Regular Season standings and advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs. Sanders played the 2012-13 season for the Austin Toros, seeing game action in 49 of 50 contests and making 48 starts. He averaged 11.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game in the regular season, while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 37.2 percent from 3-point range.
