BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB men’s basketball team produced a new spring GPA record this term with a combined 3.01 team GPA. This mark also stands as the second best team GPA in program history.

Nine of the Blazers men’s basketball student-athletes achieved 3.0 or greater grade point averages for the term, with two earning perfect 4.0 marks. These nine student-athletes were among 207 Blazer student-athletes earning above a 3.0 term GPA for the spring 2014 semester.

“We are extremely proud of the effort our guys put in to their coursework this semester,” said UAB head coach Jerod Haase. “We consistently talk to our players about their hard work off the court carrying over to success on the court and this is a tribute to their efforts.”

Overall 10 members of the 2013-14 Blazers’ men’s basketball team will be honored with the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition, with three earning the Conference USA Academic Medal. This spring UAB seniors  Preston Purifoy and Rod Rucker earned their degrees from UAB.
