Rod Rucker Named Second-Team All-C-USA

Rod Rucker has posted the third-most double-doubles (11) in C-USA this season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB men's basketball forward Rod Rucker has been named to the All-Conference USA Second Team, the league office announced on Monday.

In his first season with the Blazers, Rucker is leading the team in points (14.5), rebounds (8.3) and blocks (0.7) per game.  The Elberton, Ga., native also is shooting a team-high 48 percent from the floor and has totaled 11 double-doubles, third most in the conference this season.

Rucker, a junior, has scored in double figures in 23 of 31 regular season games and topped 20 points on six occasions.  He has also posted 12 double-digit rebound performances.

Back on March 4, Rucker earned C-USA Player of the Week honors by averaging 23.5 points and shooting 60.6 percent from the floor as the Blazers defeated Tulane and SMU.  Against the Green Wave, Rucker scored a career-high 26 points, 18 coming in the first half.

The seventh-seeded Blazers will face off against No. 10 seed SMU on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. CT in Tulsa, Okla., at the BOK Center in the opening round of the C-USA Tournament.
