BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

The Blazers currently own the tiebreaker over the Thundering Herd and Owls with head-to-head victories earlier in the season.

Junior forward William Lee begins play Thursday leading the Blazers in scoring (13.1 ppg), rebounding (6.9 rpg) and blocked shots (2.4 bpg). The Plantersville, Ala., native scored a season-high 26 points Saturday against Old Dominion and is averaging 18.0 points and 7.7 rebounds over his last three games. Lee is also on the verge of becoming the 22nd player in UAB history with 1,000 career points, as he opens the week only 45 points shy of that milestone.

Chris Cokley adds 12.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 59.4 percent from the field. Cokley stands second in Conference USA and 26th in the NCAA in field goal percentage.

Senior guard Dirk Williams pours in 10.0 points per game and paces UAB with 44 three-pointers made. Fellow guard Denzell Watts ranks third in the league with a .458 three-point field goal percentage.

Marshall (14-11, 7-5) snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday with an 84-79 victory at WKU. The Thundering Herd average a league-high 86.7 points per game and rank second in the conference with a .382 three-point field goal percentage.

Thundering Herd junior guard Jon Elmore leads Conference USA with 20.0 points and 6.2 assists per game. Senior Stevie Browning adds 15.9 points per game and shoots 39.0 percent from three-point range. Forward Ryan Taylor paces Marshall with 8.4 rebounds per game to go along with 14.5 points per game.

UAB and Marshall will meet on the hardwood for the 25th time in school history when the two teams battle on Thursday. The Blazers own an 18-6 lead in the all-time series that dates back to the 2003-04 season. UAB has won eight straight over the Thundering Herd, including a 94-78 win earlier this season in Birmingham. In addition, UAB has won seven consecutive games over Marshall at the Henderson Center and has not lost in Huntington since 2008.
