BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's basketball team looks to rebound after a road loss at East Carolina by hosting the Rice Owls on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT inside Bartow Arena.

>> UAB enters Saturday's contest after falling on the road at East Carolina, 74-61, this past Wednesday.

>> In the loss, UAB sliced a 17-point deficit to single digits, but the Pirates were able to hit their foul shots down the stretch to claim the victory.

>> Rod Rucker just missed his 10th double-double of the season, scoring a team-best 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Robert Williams added nine points, nine rebounds and four assists in the loss.

>> Rod Rucker leads the Blazers in points (14.0) and rebounds (8.2) per game and shoots a team-best 49.3 percent overall from the floor.

>> Preston Purifoy leads C-USA in overall free throw percentage at 91.5, making 54 of 59 attempts this season.

>> Quincy Taylor ranks second in league games only in 3-point shooting percentage at 50.0.  Taylor has connected on 14 of 28 attempts. Prior to the start of conference play, Taylor was 4-for-23 from beyond the arc.

>> As a team, UAB is averaging 72.6 points per game, shooting 43.4 percent from the floor, 33.7 percent from 3-point range and 73.0 percent from the foul line.

On The Owls
>> Rice enters Saturday's contest after being edged at Marshall, 71-70, in Huntington, W.Va., on Wednesday.  

>> The Owls have dropped four straight contests, with their last win coming on Jan. 30 vs. crosstown foe Houston, defeating the Cougars 79-69.

>> Two Rice players average in double figures, led by Tamir Jackson's 16 ppg.  Jackson recently just surpassed the career 1,500 point mark for the Owls.  Julian DeBose pours in an even 10 points per contest.

>> As a team, Rice is averaging 60.1 points per game, shooting 40.2 percent overall from the floor, 33.9 percent from 3-point range and 72.5 percent from the free throw line.

>> The Owls like to shoot from downtown, making 180 3-pointers compared to just 143 by their opponents.  Rice has also attempted 531 shots from beyond the arc, while the opposition has fired up 400.
