Sharp Shooting Leads UAB To 76-71 Win At Tulane
Rod Rucker and Jordan Swing combined to score 49 points and the UAB men's basketball team shot a season-best 58.5 percent to defeat Tulane on the road, 76-71, at Devlin Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Fresh off an exciting 84-60 win against Southern Miss on Thursday, the UAB men's basketball team returns to Bartow Arena on Saturday for a 7 p.m. CT tip against Tulane.
Fans can catch the action on the Blazer IMG Sports Network. David Crane (play-by-play) and Bobby Frasor (analyst) will call the game on HOT 107.7 FM.

Five Things To Know
• UAB and Tulane meet for the 37th time in history on Saturday. The Blazers lead the all-time series, 24-12, and have won 10 in a row.
• The Blazers are home at Bartow Arena, where they are 12-2 this season under head coach Jerod Haase. UAB began the season 10-0 at home.
• Saturday’s contest features three of Conference USA’s top 10 scorers in UAB’s Chad Frazier (3rd, 18.2 ppg) and Tulane’s Louis Dabney (5th, 16.5 ppg) and Jonathan Stark (10th, 15.0 ppg).
• UAB is fourth in Conference USA in scoring offense (75.5 ppg). The Blazers’ 84 point output against Southern Miss matched their highest total in league competition. UAB also scored 84 vs. Middle Tennessee on Jan. 11.
• The Blazers have recorded 50 or more rebounds in eight games this season and are second in the nation in rebounds per game with 45.4 per contest.

» Thursday’s game represents the 37th meeting between UAB and Tulane. The two first met in the 1992-93 season. The Blazers defeated the Green Wave, 75-69, in Bartow Arena on Dec. 15, 1992.
» UAB leads the all-time series, 24-12, and has beat Tulane in 10 straight contests since 2008. In their last match up, the Blazers topped the Green Wave 76-71 in New Orleans last season.
UAB One Of Nation’s Best Rebounding Teams
» According to ESPN.com’s statistical rankings, UAB is the No. 2 rebounding team in the nation, averaging 45.4 boards per game. The Blazers have recorded over 50 rebounds eight times this season (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy, 62 vs. New Mexico, 52 vs. North Carolina 51 vs. Alabama A&M, 50 vs. Newberry College, 53 at North Texas and 50 at Tulsa). The 62 against New Mexico represents just the fifth time in school history that UAB has had 60-plus rebounds. The school record is 69, which came against South Alabama on Dec. 20, 1994.
Blazers Catch Fire Against Southern Miss
» UAB shot 53.3 percent from the floor against Southern Miss on Thursday, and knocked in a season-high 11 3-point goals en route to the win. It marked the fourth time this season UAB has shot 50 percent or better from the field. The Blazers are 3-1 overall when shooting over the 50 percent mark.
Washington Heats Up Against Southern Miss
» UAB junior forward C.J. Washington hit a career-best four 3-point shots against Southern Miss on Feb. 13. Three of them came in scoring the Blazers’ first nine points of the contest.
Frazier’s 20-point Streak
» UAB guard Chad Frazier has scored 20 or more points in five of the last seven games, including a 27-point performance against Old Dominion on Jan. 30. Frazier has led UAB in scoring 12 times this season and recorded 20 points or more nine times.
Frazier League’s Best In Conference Play
» Chad Frazier is Conference USA’s leading scorer in conference play. Frazier, who is averaging 19.0 points per game in conference action, has led UAB in scoring in five of the team’s ten C-USA games.
Blazers’ Success At The Line
» UAB is currently ranked No. 4 in Conference USA in free-throw percentage for the season, hitting 398-of-578 (.689) overall. In conference games only, however, the Blazers are knocking in just 145-of-228 (.636), which ranks No. 15 in the league.
Watts Seeing Increased Playing Time
» UAB freshman guard Denzell Watts has seen increased playing time in Conference USA play. He averages 20.0 minutes per game in league action and scores 4.6 points per game against C-USA opponents. He set a career high with 11 points vs. against Southern Miss on Feb. 13.
» Tulane enters the contest with an overall record of 13-12, 5-5 in Conference USA. Most recently the Green Wave fell to Middle Tennessee, 71-44, on Thursday. Against the Blue Raiders, Tulane shot just 30 percent from the floor and hit just 15 shots.
