BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- UAB's men's basketball team returns home for the first of two home games this week, when the Blazers host Old Dominion at 7 p.m. CT Thursday evening at Bartow Arena.

Five Things To Know
• UAB and Old Dominion meet for the 27th time in school history on Thursday. UAB leads the all-time series, 17-9, and has won three out of the last five games between the two. The two teams are meeting for the first time since 2008 -- a 77-62 UAB win in Bartow Arena.
• The Blazers return to Bartow Arena, where they own a 10-1 record this season. Under head coach Jerod Haase, UAB is 21-5 at home in two seasons.
• UAB ranks No. 3 in Conference USA in free-throw percentage, hitting 333-of-472 (.706) at the line for the year. Meanwhile, Old Dominion is ranked 16th in the league, knocking in just 263-of-435 (.605) shots at the free-throw line.
• The Blazers recorded their eighth game with 50 rebounds or more with 50 against Tulsa on Saturday. UAB, which ranks second in the nation in rebounds per game (47.0), recorded 53 boards at North Texas last Thursday.
• UAB’s Chad Frazier has scored over 20 points in two-straight games. He ranks third in the league in scoring with 17.7 ppg.

» UAB owns a 17-9 all-time series record over Old Dominion as the two teams meet for the 27th time on Thursday. In a series that started with a 71-60 Blazer win at the BJCC on Jan. 20, 1983, UAB has had great success against the Monarchs. The Blazers have won three out of the last four meetings between the two teams and own the two longest win streaks in the series -- four-straight victories from 1986-87 and four-straight from 1989-90. UAB and ODU met in consecutive seasons from 1983 until 1991, when the Monarchs and Blazers were both part of the Sun Belt Conference.
UAB One Of Nation’s Best Rebounding Teams
» According to ESPN.com’s statistical rankings, UAB is the No. 2 rebounding team in the nation, averaging 47.0 boards per game. The Blazers have recorded over 50 rebounds eight times this season (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy, 62 vs. New Mexico, 52 vs. North Carolina 51 vs. Alabama A&M, 50 vs. Newberry College, 53 at North Texas and 50 at Tulsa). The 62 against New Mexico represents just the fifth time in school history that UAB has had 60-plus rebounds. The school record is 69, which came against South Alabama on Dec. 20, 1994.
50-Plus Rebounds In Two-Straight Games
» UAB has recorded 50 rebounds or more in two-straight games. The Blazers recorded 53 at North Texas on Jan. 23 and outrebounded Tulsa, 50-35 last Saturday.
40-Plus Boards In 16 Games; 50-plus In Eight Games
» UAB has recorded 40 or more rebounds in 16 of its 19 games this season and has hit that mark in 10 of the last 12 contests. The Blazers have also recorded 50 or more boards eight times this season.
» UAB’s eight games with 50+ rebounds is the most in NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
Blazers’ Success At The Line
» UAB is currently ranked No. 3 in Conference USA in free-throw percentage for the season, hitting 333-of-472 (.706) overall. In conference games only, however, the Blazers are knocking in just 80-of-122 (.656), which ranks No. 11 in the league.
Frazier League’s Best In Conference Play
» UAB guard Chad Frazier is Conference USA’s leading scorer in conference play only. Frazier, who averages 17.7 points per game, scored 20 points at North Texas last Thursday and followed with a 21-point performance at Tulsa on Saturday.
» Frazier has recorded six games this season with over 20 points and has scored in double figures 17 times.
Watts Seeing Increased Playing Time
» UAB freshman guard Denzell Watts has seen increased playing time in Conference USA play. The Flint, Mich., native averages 18.6 minutes per game in league action and scores 4.4 points per game against conference opponents. He has played 20 minutes or more in four of UAB’s five conference games this season.
Swing Approaching 1,000 Career Points
» UAB guard Jordan Swing is approaching the 1,000 career point mark. The Birmingham native, who now has 976 career points, began his career at Western Kentucky before transferring to the hometown Blazers for his final three seasons.
Scouting Old Dominion
» Old Dominion is currently on a hot streak in Conference USA action, jumping out to a 4-1 start in league play. At 10-10 overall on the year, three of the four conference wins for the Monarchs have come on the road.
» ODU is led by three players in double figures, including team-leader Aaron Bacote, who averages 17.5 points per game and leads the team in assists with 64 total on the year.
» Old Dominion, who was a former conference rival for the Blazers in the Sun Belt Conference, is one of eight new members in Conference USA.
