BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The UAB men's basketball team is set for a Conference USA road trip this week, when the Blazers travel to North Texas for a 7 p.m. CT tip on Thursday before trekking to Tulsa for a Saturday clash that is slated to begin at 3 p.m. CT.

Fans can catch this week's action on the Blazer IMG Sports Network. David Crane (play-by-play) and Bobby Frasor (analyst) will call the game locally on 107.7 FM.

Five Things To Know
UAB and North Texas meet for just the second time in school history on Thursday. The Blazers won the only meeting in the series, 79-73, on Dec. 4, 1997. In that contest, UAB shot 56.4 percent from the field on the way to the win.

The Blazers and Mean Green each have a strong inside presence. UAB leads Conference USA in five of seven rebounding categories, while NT is third in the league in defensive rebounds (27.3 rpg).

UAB, which ranks third in C-USA in free-throw percentage (.712), has made more free throws (299) than opponents have attempted (286).

The Blazers will play in just their fourth true road game of the season on Thursday. UAB is 1-2 overall away from Bartow Arena, with the lone victory coming in a 74-69 triumph against Northeastern on Dec. 7.

UAB is second in the country in rebounds per game, averaging 46.5 boards per contest.

The Blazers have recorded over 50 rebounds six times this season (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy, 62 vs. New Mexico, 52 vs. North Carolina 51 vs. Alabama A&M and 50 vs. Newberry College). The 62 against New Mexico represents the fifth time in school history that UAB has had 60-plus rebounds. The school record is 69, which came against South Alabama on Dec. 20, 1994.

Blazers Have Block Party Vs. UTSA
» UAB blocked 13 shots against UTSA on Jan. 16 -- the first time since Nov. 16, 2011 that the Blazers have recorded double-digit blocks. The 13 blocks were three shy of the 16 that UAB had against St. Mary’s (Minn.) College on Nov. 25, 1983.

» The 13-block performance also marked just the sixth time in school history that the Blazers have recorded 13 or more blocks in a single game.

» UAB has blocked at least four shots in each of the past three games.

40-Plus Boards In 14 Games; 50-plus In Six Games

They are the only two Blazers to score 20-plus points in a game this season, each doing it four times. The two combine to score 32.1 of UAB’s 76.9 ppg, which is 42 percent of the team’s scoring effort.

Swing Approaching 1,000 Career Points
