Redshirt senior guard Robert Williams averages 6.9 rebounds per game.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Redshirt senior Robert Williams of the UAB men’s basketball team is the UAB Student Athlete of the Week, as announced on Wednesday. The UAB Student Athlete of the Week recognizes Blazer student-athletes who have excelled both academically and in their respective sports.
In its last contest, the UAB men’s basketball team suffered an overtime setback at Middle Tennessee. Williams made a career-high eight free throws, going 8-of-9 from the line. He recorded 10 points and seven rebounds, as well. The redshirt senior guard has been a key component of the Blazers’ rebounding success this season, grabbing 6.9 boards per game.
Off the court, Williams owns a 3.05 cumulative GPA and has been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll for three straight years. The Greenville, Miss. native graduated in May 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and is currently pursuing a second degree in health education.
Williams and Blazers men’s basketball squad will return to the court Thursday, Jan. 16 as they face UTSA in Bartow Arena at 7:00 p.m.
