BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Less than 1,800 tickets remain for Saturday's 3rd Annual Bartow Classic when the UAB men's basketball team plays host to the Memphis Tigers. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. CT.
The annual Conference USA battle in Bartow Arena between the two teams is always an entertaining matchup and is one of the Blazers' most-anticipated home games on their schedule each year. This Saturday's contest promises to be no different and UAB fans are encouraged to ensure their seats and purchase their tickets today.
The UAB/Memphis game has sold out four of the past six years in Bartow Arena. Saturday's game will be the 2011-12 Conference USA opener for both teams.
For the third consecutive year, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Coach Gene Bartow Fund for Cancer Research. The event pays tribute to the legendary former UAB coach and athletic director who was diagnosed with cancer in April, 2009.
A check will be presented to the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center at halftime of Saturday's game.
Tickets for the game can be purchased for $27 for lower level seats and $22 for upper level. Tickets can be purchased online at UABSports.com or by calling 205-975-UAB1 (8221).
Saturday's contest will also feature a "GREEN OUT" as all Blazer fans are encouraged to wear green and to come early to the game.
The first 1,200 UAB students will receive a #goblazers green t-shirt courtesy of the UAB School of Business. For UAB fans who utilize Twitter, UAB Athletics is asking all fans to use #goblazers in their Twitter feeds when mentioning Saturday's Bartow Classic vs. Memphis.
