UAB GAME NOTES

UAB Leads Nation In Rebounding
» According to ESPN.com’s statistical rankings, UAB is the No. 1 rebounding team in the nation, averaging 48.4 boards per game. The Blazers have recorded over 50 rebounds five times this season (54 vs. Rutgers, 53 vs. Troy, 62 vs. New Mexico, 52 vs. North Carolina and 51 vs. Alabama A&M). The 62 against New Mexico represents the fifth time in school history that UAB has had 60-plus rebounds. The school record is 69, which came against South Alabama on Dec. 20, 1994.

» The Blazers have doubled up two opponents this season on the boards. UAB doubled Rutgers’ rebound total of 27 as the Blazers had just as many offensive boards (22) as the Scarlet Knights had defensively. Against Troy, UAB outrebounded the Trojans, 53-24, including a 39-16 advantage on the defensive glass.

40-Plus Boards In 12 Games; 50-plus In Five Games
» UAB has recorded 40 or more rebounds in 12 of its 13 games this season and has hit that mark in seven-straight contests. The Blazers have also recorded 50 or more five times this season, including 51 in their last game vs. Alabama A&M.

Blazers Win Five-Straight From Nov. 27-Dec. 18
» UAB rode a five-game win streak from Nov. 27-Dec. 18. It was the Blazers’ longest win streak since the 2009-10 season when the Blazers won seven in a row from Jan. 2-Jan.26.

Williams Records First Double-Double
» UAB redshirt senior guard Robert Williams recorded the first double-double of his UAB career in the contest against Alabama A&M on Dec. 29. The Greenville, Miss., native scored 12 points and tied a career high with 11 rebounds. In all, four Blazers scored in double figures against the Bulldogs.

Frazier Among Junior College Transfer Scoring Leaders
» Chad Frazier, who has scored in double figures 12 games this season, ranks No. 3 in the country in scoring among junior college transfers who are in their first year with their respective schools. Frazier is averaging 17.6 points per game, which is just behind the 20.5 from Southeast Missouri’s Jarekious Bradley and Grambling’s A’Torri Shine’s 17.9 ppg for most in the nation.

Frazier Garners Two-Straight C-USA Honors
» Blazer junior point guard Chad Frazier was named the C-USA Player of the Week in consecutive weeks (Nov. 25 and Dec. 2) earlier this season. Frazier, who scored 25 points vs. No. 16 North Carolina, is the first player in UAB history to win back-to-back C-USA Player of the Week honors. The Blazers have now won three C-USA Player of the Week honors. UAB has never had more than four C-USA Player of the Week winners in a single season.
