BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Marvett McDonald scored 15 points and Brandon Tobias added 11, leading UAB to a 72-58 win over Centenary on Monday night.

Wen Mukubu scored 10 points for UAB (5-3) which tied a school record with 23 steals.

Chris Watson scored 19 points and Clarke Jackson added 10 to lead Centenary (2-6). Guard Brian Baumann had a game-high 11 rebounds for the Gents.

The Blazers led 38-20 at halftime and used a full-court pressure defense to force 37 turnovers for the game. That number was one away for UAB's school best for a single game.

UAB held Centenary scoreless for more than seven minutes in the first half to jump to a 24-4 lead. The Blazers biggest margin was 25 points, when McDonald hit a 3-pointer to make it 34-9.

UAB got off to a sluggish start in the second half, and a pair of 3s by Jackson helped Centenary cut the margin to 40-31.

But Mukubu scored 5 points to spark a 12-0 run that put the game away for UAB.

Paul Delaney had 7 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Blazers. Squeaky Johnson had six steals.

UAB next hosts former Sun Belt Conference rival and 2005 NCAA Tournament participant Old Dominion on Thursday night, Dec. 22. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. CT tip-off in Bartow Arena.
