UAB (6-3) led 34-27 at halftime and started the second half with 21-5 run that helped put the game out of reach. The margin would be extended to 26 points later in the half as the Blazers coasted to their fourth straight victory. Cincinnati saw their three game winning streak snapped.
The Blazers continued their solid shooting from the field hitting on 30-of-60 shots, while holding Cincinnati to 38 percent from the floor.
Huffman scored on a layup for the first points of the game and UAB was ahead all the way. Sharpe and Frank Holmes scored two inside baskets apiece to spark a 13-0 run that gave UAB a 27-12 lead. Aaron Johnson dished out seven assists.
Cincinnati hit two 3-pointers to pull within seven points at halftime, but UAB took control with a 15-2 spurt to start the second half.
Huffman had three baskets in that stretch to help give UAB a 49-29 lead.
Adam Hrycaniuk scored 16 points and Marvin Gentry had 14 for Cincinnati (4-3).
