SENIOR YEAR (2000-2001): Sustained a ACL injury in his left knee during a summer pickup game...had surgery in late August...took medical red-shirt in 2000-01.
JUNIOR YEAR (1999-2000): Finished second on the team in both scoring (11.4) and rebounding (5.9) per game...produced a career-best night with 26 points and 12 rebounds at Houston (2/2)...had one other double-double with 22 points and 11 boards against Fresno State (12/11)...at one point averaged 15.2 points over a 10-game span through the heart of the schedule which included games against South Florida, Louisville, DePaul and Cincinnati...finished 10th in C-USA in steals at 1.75 per contest...collected at least six rebounds in 17 games during the season...added another double-digit rebound performance against Alabama A&M (11/23).
SOPHOMORE YEAR (1998-99): Although slowed by a sprained left thumb in the season's first month (he sat out the Tulsa game on 11/22), Ransom played in 25 games for the Blazers ...had three consecutive double-figure scoring games and one double-digit rebound game ... made very solid contributions off the bench ... scored four points against Iowa in the NCAA first round (3/11) ...led a UAB comeback from 13 points down with nine points (including two three-pointers) in the first half at South Florida (1/16) ... had three straight double-figure scoring games with 10 vs. Texas-Arlington (12/1), 10 vs. Western Kentucky (12/5) and 13 vs. Jacksonville State (12/8) ... had a career high four steals vs. Jacksonville State.
FRESHMAN YEAR (1997-98): Ransom started slowly as a collegiate player, but looked good in the Indiana game (11/20), scoring nine points ... also played well in Alaska, scoring eight points vs. both Purdue (11/26) and UCLA (11/29), and shooting .636 (7-11) overall from the field in three games ... Ransom stepped up in the North Texas game with season highs in both scoring and rebounding (17 points, 8 rebounds) ... battled like a young warrior versus the massive Cincinnati front line (2/19), scoring nine points and grabbing four rebounds in 15 minutes (he also hit his first career three-pointer vs. the Bearcats) ... he continued his offensive output vs. Norfolk State (2/23) with 15 points (2-3 from three- point range) ... finished the season 6-for-16 (.375) from three-point range, with all of his makes and attempts coming in the final nine games ... averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in he C-USA Championship (3/5-6).
HIGH SCHOOL: A teammate of former UAB player LeAndrew Bass at West End High School, Ransom was one of the main reasons the Lions swept through the competition en route to two consecutive state titles (1996, 1997) ... earned numerous honors during his career, including No. 2 rating on the Birmingham Post-Herald's "Ten Most Wanted," and No. 3 rating on The Birmingham News' "Super Seniors" as well as 1st Team Super All-Metro (The Birmingham News) ... averaged 16.1 points and 11 rebounds per game as a senior, as West End went 32-3 ... ranked 38th on Hoop Scoop's Top 100 High School Prospects list.
