Marco Morcos enters his first season with the UAB men's basketball program as the Director of Basketball Operations, following a successful coaching career on the AAU and high school circuit.
Morcos joins the Blazers after a successful stint as the head coach of L.E.A.P. Academy from 2004-07. While a head coach at L.E.A.P., Morcos racked up numerous awards and led his team to several different tournament titles. During the 2006-07 campaign, Morcos' squad finished with a 25-7 record and a No. 7 ranking in South Jersey by the Courier Post.
During the 2005-06 campaign, his squad finished 27-6, earning the No. 1 seed for the NJSIAA South Jersey playoff bracket. After capturing the South Jersey and Central Jersey championship, Morcos' team finished runners-up for the state championship.
During his three seasons at L.E.A.P., Morcos finished with a 72-20 (.783) overall record and graduated 100 percent of his players. Additionally, his team's overall GPA remained above 3.0 during his tenure. Furthermore, he helped over 100 players to college scholarships on the D-I and D-II level. Additionally, Morcos was the head coach of Rise Academy where he coached current UAB player Terrence Roderick. Morcos led Rise to a 31-8 record and sent eight players to D-I schools.
Morcos spent his playing days at Rutgers-Camden, playing in 33 contests during his two-year career.
